Fall Frenzy Days begin September 17, 2021
Public, Private, Homeschoolers: all welcome!
Please call 814-832-3430 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule your tour.
At JB Tree Farm, our goal is to present memorable, informative lessons and activities to your group. With a new theme every year, we choose topics that are fun and exciting. We can gear our presentation or "lesson" to be full of fun for every age group, from children to adults. Most often, I hear one of the adults say, "I never knew that!" during their class's lesson. School Group tours can be scheduled for any time of the day.
Basic School Tour
The Basic tour is $7.00 per person, including other parents and adults accompanying the groups. School also receive two free passes for teachers per 20 paid admissions. Groups rotate through varying numbers of the possible activities listed, depending on number of groups you have. Each person receives a decorating project item.
- An educational presentation with lots of hands-on participation
- An informative visit with our little animals
- An old-fashioned hayride through our fields (canopy available for rainy days)
- A decorating activity*
- A scavenger hunt
- Harvest Playground
- Tailor your own activity and we will help you implement it!
Everyone receives one small pumpkin or gourd to decorate and take home. This includes participants who are unable to decorate. .
Adding our corn maze to your Basic Tour is only an additional $3 more! The Maze tour includes the Basic tour and a trip through the 6 acre corn maze. Do the whole maze or we can adjust the difficulty of the maze path to match the age of your group. $10.00 per person, which includes the above Basic tour activities described and the corn maze.
Inclement weather need not stop your class; most groups come to the farm even on rainy days. We have a covered hayride and the animal visit is under a roof. Depending on tour size, we will also socially distance you out for the lesson and decorating. Contact us if you have any questions and let us know the size of your group.
All tours require a minimum of 15 participants or payment equal to that number.
Two free passes are allowed for teachers or those arranging tours for each group of 20. For example, a class bringing 60 children, three classroom teachers and/or three aides (six adults) will receive a free pass for activities. However, if that class brings another 15 parents, grandparents, etc. along as chaperones, the extra adults will pay the normal tour cost.
Teachers, chaperones, and all participating adults will receive the same tour, rides, samples, and decorating project that child participants receive. We encourage these chaperones to be sure to try the food, decorate a pumpkin, ride the hayride, and enjoy the whole tour experience!
Basic Tour Activites Detailed:
Farm and Nature Classroom
Each participant, including teachers and parent chaperones, receives a small pumpkin or other item on the tour. Many groups decorate the pumpkins using natural and assorted craft items and markers. We provide a bag in which to carry the decorated item home.
Your fall scenic hayride will pass through fields of Christmas trees bordered by woods and mountains covered with trees in blazing fall colors, and the cow pasture where Hereford calves and moms are often visible from the hayride. In spring you will see our lovely spring landscapes and trees and colors under a soft sky.
Our Nigerian Dwarf goats will be happy to greet you: Penny, Aurora, Lady, Luna, Ginger and all their kids (six to 12 bundles of fun and activity)
For a tour with more leisure time, we can build the playground into the rotation. Just request this station when you reserve your tour date. If your students are more active or very young, the playground can replace one other aspect of your tour such as the educational presentation. This is also helpful if your group has to return to school without extra time for play.
Self-guided Scavenger Hunt
To play the scavenger hunt game we provide you with lists of natural items found in a field adjacent to the Christmas shop. You divide your group into two teams and give leaders the provided lists and bags in which to collect the items. Set a time limit and let the two groups collect as many items as they can find. Check and count the two sets. The team finding the most items on the list is the high scoring team. Allow around 30 minutes.back to top
